How to Get to Rinjani mountain
Reaching Rinjani Zero Waste and starting your trek to Mount Rinjani is a straightforward and accessible journey, whether you travel by plane, ferry, or fast boat. From the airport or harbor, you’ll be driven to Senaru, the gateway village to the mountain, where your adventure will begin. Here’s a complete guide to help you get there with ease.
By Plane:
The quickest and most convenient way to reach Lombok is by flight. Lombok International Airport (LOP) is well-connected to major cities like Jakarta and Bali, with daily direct flights. The airport is located in Tanak Awu, about 30 km (1 hour’s drive) southeast of Mataram.
Airlines that fly to Lombok include:
Garuda Indonesia
Lion Air
Silk Air
AirAsia
Trans Nusa
Once you land at Lombok International Airport, you’ll continue by road to Senaru—the starting point for your trek to Mount Rinjani. The drive from the airport to Senaru takes approximately 3.5 hours by private car.
By Ferry:
If you’re traveling from Bali, taking the public ferry is a budget-friendly and scenic way to reach Lombok. Ferries operate regularly between Padang Bai (Bali) and Lembar (Lombok), with a journey time of 4-5 hours.
Tip: If you’re traveling with a motorbike or car, you can bring it on the ferry.
Note: Seas can be rough, so be prepared if you are prone to seasickness.
Additionally, ferries also connect Labuhan Lombok to Poto Tano (on Sumbawa Island), which takes approximately 1.5 hours.
By Fast Boat:
For a quicker alternative, fast boats operate between Bali and Lombok. There are several departure points from Bali:
Serangan (near Benoa Harbour)
Padang Bai Harbour
Nusa Penida
The journey from Bali to Bangsal Harbor in the north of Lombok takes around 2-3 hours. Once you arrive at Bangsal, it’s a short drive to Senaru.
