The Summit Rinjani program is designed to explore all sides of Mount Rinjani, starting from the Sembalun trekking trail and returning via the Senaru trekking route. This 3-day program offers the best trekking experience, combining an exhilarating adventure with breathtaking views and natural wonders.

At 3,726m, Mount Rinjani is one of Indonesia’s highest peaks, offering panoramic views from various stunning vantage points. As you trek, you’ll experience the beauty of Rinjani’s landscapes, from the expansive savannas to the crystal-clear waters of Segara Anak Lake within the crater. Summit Rinjani Program Overview:

Incredible views: Experience the grandeur of tropical forests, mountain ranges, and the Gili Islands from the crater rim.

The Sembalun trek route offers grand views of the grass savanna as you approach Mount Rinjani’s eastern entrance.

Spectacular sunset views: Admire the sunset over Segara Anak Lake within the volcanic crater.

Day 1: Sembalun (1,100m) → Sembalun Crater Rim (2,639m)

RINJANI TREKKING ITINERARY – 3D2N (Summit, Start at Sembalun, End at Senaru)

Morning:

06:00 AM – Wake up and enjoy a hearty breakfast at Sembalun Basecamp.
07:00 AM – Depart from Senaru and drive to Sembalun Village (45–60 minutes).
08:00 AM – Registration at the Rinjani Information Center (RIC) at 1,051m.

Trekking:

08:30 AM - POS 1 (1,300m): Start the trek, walking for 2 hours to reach the first rest stop, where you can take a short break.
10:30 AM - POS 2 (Tengengean, 1,500m): Another 1-hour walk to reach POS 2. A short 10-minute rest.
11:30 AM - POS 3 (Pada Balong, 1,800m): Trek for 1 hour to reach POS 3. Here, take a longer break and enjoy lunch for about 1 hour.
12:30 PM - Crater Rim (2,639m): Continue your ascent for 3 hours to reach the Sembalun Crater Rim. Set up camp and enjoy the scenic view of the Segara Anak Lake below.

Evening:

05:30 PM – Dinner at the campsite while enjoying the sunset over the Segara Anak Lake. Relax and prepare for the early summit push the next day.

Day 2: Summit Push, Segara Anak Lake (2,000m) & Senaru Crater Rim (2,641m)

Duration: 12 hours
Walking Time: 12 hours
Difficulty: Very Difficult
Highest Point: 3,726m (Rinjani Summit)
Elevation Gain: +1,087m

Early Morning:

02:30 AM – Wake up and have a light breakfast (snacks, tea, or coffee).
03:00 AM – Begin the summit ascent to Rinjani Summit (3,726m). This leg of the trek will take approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes. The terrain is steep, so be prepared for a challenging climb.
    Enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Lombok, Bali, Sumbawa, and Segara Anak Lake once you reach the summit.

Morning:

06:30 AM – After spending some time at the summit, descend back to Sembalun Crater Rim for breakfast. This will take around 2 hours.
08:30 AM – Depart for Segara Anak Lake (2,000m) and its Hot Springs. The descent will take approximately 3 hours. Enjoy lunch by the lake and a relaxing dip in the hot springs, which are located just 100 meters from the lake.

Afternoon:

01:00 PM – Begin the ascent to the Senaru Crater Rim (2,641m). The trek to the rim will take 3-4 hours.
    Along the way, enjoy the incredible sunset views over Mount Agung in Bali and the volcanic smoke from the new volcano.

Evening:

05:30 PM – Arrive at Senaru Crater Rim, set up camp, and have dinner while watching the sunset over the surrounding landscape.

Day 3: Descent to Senaru Village (601m)

Distance: 9.2 km
Duration: 5-6 hours
Walking Time: 5 hours
Difficulty: Moderate
Highest Point: 2,641m (Senaru Crater Rim)
Elevation Loss: -2,040m

Morning:

06:00 AM – Wake up early to enjoy a beautiful sunrise over the Senaru Crater Rim.
07:00 AM – Have breakfast at the campsite, then begin the descent to Senaru Village.
    The trek takes around 5-6 hours, walking through lush tropical forest and past picturesque views of the valley.
Lunch will be provided at POS 2 (1,500m), and the trek continues until you reach Senaru Village.

Afternoon:

01:00 PM – Arrive at Senaru Rinjani Trekking Center. After your trek, relax and freshen up. From here, you will be transferred to Senggigi, Mataram, or Bangsal Harbor for your onward journey, including trips to the Gili Islands.

Trekking Difficulty & Requirements:

This trek is challenging and not recommended for beginners.
Good physical condition is essential to complete this trek.
Ages 10–50 in good fitness are the best candidates for this trek.
Height phobias, asthma, or pregnancy are contraindications for this trek.

Temperature:

Daytime: 28-35˚C (depending on elevation)
Nighttime at Campsites: 8-15˚C (campsites at Sembalun, Senaru Rim, Segara Anak Lake)
Summit: 0-5˚C (cold, especially before sunrise)

Daytime: Lightweight, breathable clothing (shorts/pants, T-shirt, hat).
Nighttime: Warm layers (long pants, T-shirt, jacket).
Summit Gear: Super warm clothes (long pants, T-shirt, sweater, windbreaker jacket, gloves, warm hat, buff).
